The practice guide

Build typing speed without rushing accuracy.

Aesthetic Typer gives you a calm place to practice with guided passages, a blank Free Type mode, and live feedback. You can start without creating an account.

Start typing practice

Start with a comfortable setup

  1. Open Aesthetic Typer on a computer with a physical keyboard. The practice text is ready when the loading message disappears.
  2. Open Settings to choose a theme, then close it and type the displayed text. Use Backspace when you want to correct a character.
  3. Try Normal difficulty first. Switch to Hard when you want more demanding passages, or choose Free Type to write your own words.
  4. Use the circular restart icon for a fresh session. The confirmation lets you cancel without losing your current progress.

Understand the numbers

Words per minute (WPM)

Aesthetic Typer treats five correct characters as one word. WPM is correct characters divided by five, then divided by elapsed minutes since the first typed character. In Free Type, it uses your typed-character count because there is no target passage.

The live value changes with your pace, especially near the start of a session. Best WPM records the highest measured value during the current visit; it is not a saved score or a comparison with other typists.

Accuracy

In guided practice, accuracy compares your current correct characters with those characters plus mistaken keypresses. Correcting a mistake with Backspace does not erase the fact that the original incorrect key was pressed. Free Type has no target text, so its accuracy display stays blank.

Try a simple practice routine

Begin with a short, comfortable session. Aim for a steady rhythm and accurate keystrokes before trying to type faster. Notice which letter combinations interrupt your rhythm, then practice those words again at a manageable pace.

Use similar passages and difficulty settings when you compare sessions. A burst of familiar short words and a passage with unfamiliar punctuation are different exercises. Take a break when you lose focus or feel uncomfortable.

Make the space work for you

Choose a still Default theme for less visual distraction, or try the Rainy, Ocean, Nebula, Neon, geometric, and gradient themes. The Reduced motion switch follows your device preference until you change it. Theme and display preferences are saved in this browser.

Practice with your own text

In Settings, turn on “Use my .txt file” and select a plain-text file up to 2 MB. The text is read in your browser and looped for ongoing practice. The file is not uploaded, and its contents are not saved in your preferences.
