How scores and challenges work
WPM = correct characters currently in your text ÷ 5 ÷ elapsed minutes. Spaces and punctuation count. Raw WPM uses all character attempts, including mistakes and retyped characters. Accuracy is correct character attempts ÷ all character attempts; Backspace never erases an error from accuracy.
Easy uses familiar short words; Standard adds variety; Expert uses longer, more demanding vocabulary. Natural passages follow the same difficulty levels. Accuracy Survival presets are 90%, 95%, and 98%; Pace Keeper presets are 30, 50, and 80 WPM.
Accuracy Survival checks your cumulative accuracy after 25 character attempts, or from the first character in Strict mode. Perfect Run ends on the first mistake. Pace Keeper gives you 10 seconds to warm up, then continuously checks your WPM over the latest 10 seconds. Correct characters add to that window; deleting a correct character subtracts from it. Earlier speed cannot carry a later slowdown. The live 10s WPM and the result chart show this rolling pace; the final WPM is your overall average. Results under the previous overall-average rule remain in history, but have separate personal bests.
Timers start on the first character and keep running when you switch tabs, open settings, or leave the typing area. Pasting is disabled. Failed and ended attempts are saved, but only completed tests and challenge runs count toward personal bests. Bests compare identical settings; survival bests measure time lasted. Personal bests are stored separately from recent results, for up to 1,000 different settings. Scores are personal records, not verified rankings.
Passage results use the selected difficulty, but passage length varies. Typing tests work best with a physical keyboard. Read the typing guide.
